Slow startup of IMac following install of Sonoma

I have a 2019 Intel processsor IMac. I loaded the Sonoma OS upgrade and it takes forever to boot up. It takes up to 12 minutes to be usable with applications. Once it's usable, it works fine. Anyone else having an issue with this?

MacOs Sonoma is excellent plus it also makes my Mac process simple tasks 25% faster but the only thing is that after I start my Mac, it takes 40 whole seconds to turn on while earlier, it only took 10. Well when you upgrade your devices to later versions, they do boot up slower like Samsung but 40 seconds is just too slow.

Hi there!

To begin, share a screenshot of your Mac’s storage information. In the Finder, choose Go > Utilities, then double-click the Disk Utility icon. (Disk Utility is located in the /Applications/Utilities folder.) Alternatively, click Launchpad in the Dock, type Disk Utility in the search field, then click the Disk Utility icon. Once Disk Utility is open, take a screenshot of the information it automatically opens to, which will be your startup disk. Next, select View Show All Devices in Disk Utility and select the non-indented disk entry—it’s at the top of the hierarchy. Then, take a screenshot of the newly selected entry. Upload all screenshots here.

Next, use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac to help determine if there might be a hardware component at fault. When testing is complete, Apple Diagnostics shows the results, including one or more reference codes.

Hi!

I also experienced the same issue. Intel iMac 20,1.

After Sonoma, every single booting took long, and showed error and rebooted automatically messages.

So I went to Safe Mode and uninstalled (in my case, VPN and antivirus).

Then problem solved.

I know on Mac, it is not the same as on Windows regarding virus. But I had to uninstall them to be able to use my iMac.

cheers,
