iPhone Xs stuck in swipe up to upgrade

recently i tried upgrading my iphone xs to ios 17 using my macbook. it ended up with an unknown error and my phone is now stuck in a SWIPE UP TO UPGRADE screen. when i swipe up it opens up with keyboard asking for PASSCODE. i had numerical passcode on phone not alphanumerical. yet it pops up with keyboard instead of numpad and even if i enter my phones passcode. it doesnt work. entry space shakes as if its wrong passcode. help. i dont have latest backup and dont want to lose my data.

Hey guys, I found a solution. So most likely you experienced this because we all tried to upgrade from our macbooks and ran into an error. Hopefully ur data is backed up, because I ended up losing all my data. So basically plug ur phone to ur macbook. Turn ur phone off by pressing volume up, then release, volume down then release. When it turns off hold the volume down button the whole time, do not release until it says ur phone is in recovery mode. then go to ur macbook, click finder, location on the left, and youll see ur phone and if i remember correctly theres 2 options, update, and restore. Try update first if it doesnt work, then do restore (this option is going to completely reset ur phone)

Hey there CK2728,

To clarify, are you no longer seeing an option to swipe up to upgrade? If you only see the error regarding your passcode, the only option would be to restore the device to remove the passcode currently saved on it. The steps from the link below will show you how:

I'm having exactly the same problem. I think we do see the option to "swipe up to upgrade", It is just after swiping up, we are told the passcode entered was incorrect. Even though we confirm the passcode is right. What's strange is it opens up with keyboard asking for PASSCODE, but I just had numerical passcode on phone not alphanumerical. Is there a way to convert numerical passcode in some form of alphanumerical form?
