Yeah, between left/right swiping to other watch faces killed, and the crown no longer able to interact with faces like kaliedescope, solar dial, metropolitan, all astronomy faces (and who knows how many others), I'm extremely disappointed. There's no reason to give the entire crown over to the "smart widgets" when they already can be summoned by swiping up. Have the crown scroll through the widgets once the upswipe has summoned them and restore the functionality of the many watch faces that use that crown. Interacting with the faces like Kaliedescope made the crown my favorite fidget. That is reason enough to downgrade. These unnecessary changes in WatchOS 10 have made the watch frustrating to use. Before, it was a breeze to use.
All the "Smart Widgets" are showing me is some weather (I can no longer easily swipe to my much more informative face of Carrot Weather complications), my activity rings (which I've never cared about), and shortcuts to three apps: Music, Workout, and Messages (I was able to get to those - AND MUCH MORE - just as quickly back when I could swipe left/right).
I am very disappointed and I am relieved I didn't upgrade my Series 5 Watch to the new 9. If this crippled user experience remains permanenet. I'm out. I'm not going to wear a source of frustration on my wrist. These issues are dealbreakers. I'll keep the white ceramic 5 on permanent battery life support (like my original iPhone 1, still works) and just wear it occasionally for fashion's sake. For daily wear I'm going back to analog. Tick tick tick tick tick tick tick.
Or Apple could shake off the "widgets everywhere" hangover and restore the delightful user experience this watch used to embody. I have never used anything but Apple everything since my first computer back in 1995 because of their emphasis and expertise in design.
But WatchOS 10 is as bad as the puck mouse. Would you wear THAT on your wrist?
