Trouble accessing download file Hello, I am unable to locate my downloads file anywhere on my laptop and therefor. I have tried all of the steps that one user suggested on this site: https://www.macgasm.net/data-recovery/deleted-downloads-folder-mac/#:~:text=3.-,Check%20Finder%20Favorites,a%20case%20of%20accidental%20dragging., but I was only able to locate a "downloads file" which doesn't appear to actually be the true downloads folder (since it doesn't show the classic arrow-down; see screenshot below). Any thoughts as to where/how I can restore my downloads?

Download folder erases itself every 24 hours or so on its own. I have noticed that my downloads folder randomly or more or less every few days deletes everything it. If I want to keep files I download I have to manually move them to another folder and then it stays but whatever is in my download folder will be automatically deleted. I do not use any disc clean or nothing. this just happens on its own. I am updated to the latest Monterey version 12.6 on my MacBook Air 2020, m1 chip. No idea what's going on but its really inconvenient. Please help me understand this.

It sounds like you're trying to open the Downloads folder via an alias. Go to your Home folder and make another alias for the Downloads folder and put the alias wherever the current alias is located.

If that's not the situation post back with a screenshot of your Home folder contents and detailed description of your situation.

Command-Option-L
