Spinning ball after every crossfade in Logic

Everything in my Logic sessions is working fine except that I get a pause after putting in every crossfade.

There's a 2 second delay after using the cursor fade tool across regions during which I can't switch to a different tool, followed by 2-3 seconds of the spinning ball, then everything back to normal. It doesn't happen putting in fade-ins or fade-outs using the same tool.

A minor issue, to be sure, but aggravating when it's happening consistently. Just started a couple of weeks ago. No changes to anything in my system (Ventura 13.4.1, Logic 10.7.9)

Unfortunately I am not able to upgrade to Sonoma though my MacBook is a 2017 model.

I guess the 10.8.1-update does not fix this problem either? Anyone?

Yes! It has been driving me crazy. Been using Logic for almost 20 years and this is the first time this has been an issue. Sometimes it takes 5 seconds. 5 seconds after every crossfade = total buzzkill.
