Google Chrome taking up all availalbe storage space on Mackbook Air 2017 OSX Catalina 10.15.7

why delete it and then re-install it it it was the problem at the 16gb. chrome is a big browser. depending on how you use it and re install or install it. Google chrome can be managed in away that it doesn't impede levels of data storage . first download the google chrome from the website, go to the systems on the make or ios system settings see where google is installed you have to turn off some of google chromes usage settings on the chrome itself or on the back end of the system settings on the mac. mac or any of apple systems should be able to hold chrome anyhow. to say that its a malware or virus on the chrome no chrome has areas in its settings to handle if there was a malware or virus attack so don't think its a problem.

16 GB of disk space is a lot for a browser to occupy but unless you have a very small disk it's not an unworkable amount.

Chrome is a known resource hog; I'm with WheelieNick ... use Firefox.

I would delete google chrome and reinstall it if I were you. I guess the cache and extensions of chrome are to blame. If you want to use a browser that still gets security updates you can also try firefox, this browser tends. to be less data and storage hungry

A one-second solution: you can delete the old versions from the "/Applications/Google Chrome.app/Contents/Frameworks/Google Chrome Framework.framework/Versions" directory.
