iPhone battery change not completed at Edinburgh Apple Store because of ‘water ingress’
My wife took here iPhone 7 into the Apple Store in Edinburgh and was advised to change the battery. So she agreed left the phone and returned a couple of hours later to be told: water ingress has caused corrosion (no photos provided) and hence battery couldn’t be changed. This was followed up with an apology for the ‘home’ button no longer working and a statement to say we should have warned you about this possibility-and that’s why later phones have no home button. First issue is if water ingresses into the phone it’s a design flaw ( which they admitted it was) and returning it only useable with the ‘floating’ home key feels unreasonable. Since then the screen seems to heat up dramatically and power consumption is through the roof!! It feels to me like something has gone wrong in the internal repair process and Apple is liable.
