Removed USB 10/100/1000 LAN from MacBook Air M1, cannot re-add it.

I purchased my MacBook Air M1 approx. six months ago, and I have been having USB Ethernet port issues for the last month. I have checked the cable, the adapter, the connection, etc. I have turned off my Mac and restarted the router, the modem etc.

I've read pages of similar posts, each with different "fixes."

Most recently, I removed the USB 10/100/1000 LAN service, intending to manually add it back, only to find that it does not exist in the dropdown menu.

I need a stable hard-wired ethernet connection, but seem to be digging myself deeper.

Please, HELP!

I have the same problem. My MacBook is Apple M1 Pro Sonoma 14.2.1

First I realized that I have 33 ethernet adapters.
I decided to remove all of this
I wanted to add a new USB 10/100/100 LAN service
I detected that I don't have it.
I tried to go to System Information - System Report - Hardware - I see 3 BSD ethernet adapters en5, en6, en7
I cannot remove it and I cannot add a new USB 10/100/100 LAN service

Apologies, I thought that I had made it clear that I have tried that, (actually multiple times.)

*Update: worked (over the phone and with remote assistance,) with Apple support for over an hour last night. Tried looking for the driver in safe mode, not there.

Reinstalled Ventura, still not there.

We’ll be talking again this afternoon, I was too wiped out last night to keep working on this late.

I’ll keep this posted on progress, in case someone else out there is struggling with the same issue.

MacBook Air M2 (I mistakably wrote M1 in my original post)

Purchased in 12/23, running Ventura 13.5.1

I’ve tried two adapters, one is J5 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet and the other manufacturer is Uni. I tested them on other computers and they work fine.

Both USB C ports actively charge devices, so they are not dead.

Tested the Ethernet cable, it’s working on other devices.

Try

Unplugging the USB-C hub, dock, or Ethernet adapter that provides the interface,
Plugging it back in, and
Then trying to add the interface back in System Settings

Exactly what make and model is the device that you are using for an ethernet interface? There have been some that are a bit problematic.
