Airpod gen 3 not entering pairing mode

I was using my airpods yesterday and put them in their case to charge (i’ve had them since christmas 2022). i took them out to connect them again a little while later, and only the right one connected. i’ve had that issue in the past, and i have fixed it by checking my phone (SE2020) for updates, turning my phone off and back on, or forgetting the airpods from my phone and pairing them again. every time one of these fixes has worked. this time, there was no update for my phone, so i powered it off, that didn’t work. i forgot the device, and now my airpods won’t enter pairing mode. i removed the airpods from every device they are connected to. i have factory reset them and they will not enter pairing mode. the case will turn green when plugged in and flash orange when opened while charging. holding the back button causes them to turn solid white and not enter pairing mode. i called apple support and they said to bring them to a store or send them in, but they are out of warranty. does anyone have any fixes?

TLDR: airpods flashing orange when open, will not enter pairing mode, factory reset them and they still will not work. no update available for phone (SE2020).
