My airpods are still at version 3A283. Why haven’t they been updated ? How do I update them.

Recently, my right airpod has been dying every 5 minutes give or take. I looked up the possible causes because I have never dropped my airpods or airpods cased. It is not dead, I charge them when necessary and they haven’t been exposed to any liquids, I also clean them occasionally. I see that them being outdated can also be a reason why one airpod would die faster. I would like to know why my AirPods haven’t been updated to the latest version & how do I do so now?

iPhone 11 Pro Max, iOS 15

You would need iOS16 on your iPhone, so the firmware on the AirPods can (automatically) update.

About iOS 16 Updates - Apple Support says the latest version is iOS 16.6

Re: How do I update them.

Apple support's online article: About firmware updates for AirPods - Apple Support

says:

"Firmware updates are delivered automatically while your AirPods are charging and in Bluetooth range of your iPhone, iPad, or Mac that's connected to Wi-Fi".

Tip: Leave AirPods connected to power overnight with the iPhone close by.
