Can't get rid of Personal Hotspot in MacBook Air menu bar wifi dropdown

My MacBook shows my iPhone's Personal Hotspot in the dropdown under the 'wifi' symbol on the desktop menu bar, even when my iPhone's Personal Hotspot is switched off.

My MacBook seems to be able to switch my Personal Hotspot on and use it if my preferred wifi network is weak.

I want my laptop to totally forget this hotspot.

I do not want it to be able to use it, let alone switch it on without my permission.

My Personal Hotspot does not appear in any other network/wifi lists in Wifi System Preferences.

So there's nowhere else to delete it from.

I have switched it off manually on my iPhone.

It remains in the dropdown.

My laptop often connects to it rather than my Preferred Network. Even when it's off.

Is there any way to make my MacBook Air forget my iPhone's Personal Hotspot?

It's driving me nuts. It's doing it during Zoom calls and messing up the connection.

My wife's iPhone Hotspot appears in the drop down menu too. Her hotspot is turned off and it still is there. But, there are also over twenty other networks i. the neighborhood visible at any given time. None of which we can access.

Just being in the list is a no harm, no foul situation. Those networks that we see but can't use we just ignore.
