iPhone thinks it's connected to CarPlay and won't connect to Wi-Fi.

My iPhone thinks i’m connected to carplay when I am in my house so I cannot connect to my wi-fi network. When it disconnects and I go to control center and try to turn it back on I get the screen asking it i want to disconnect from carplay. I’ve reset my network setting, performed a hard rest and have deleted my car from my carplay settings. Still no luck

Hello Frankly0919,

A helpful article for unexpected CarPlay issues can be found here: Use CarPlay with your iPhone - Apple Support. You might want to try forgetting your car and then setting it back up, as that can help refresh the settings.

Updating your iPhone to the most recent iOS version can help with this behavior. Follow this guidance:

Update your iPhone or iPad

“1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.

2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.

3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.

4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.

5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now."

We also advise that you make sure your car firmware is updated. Check your car manual or reach out to the car manufacturer for those steps.

We hope this helps. Let us know if we can assist with anything else at all. Take care.

If you don’t have an iCloud subscription that can handle a full sized backup for you then you could temporarily get one (depending on how much space you would need you might be able to try a free trial for the 50Gb iCloud+ to do it that is often available if you haven’t utilized it before or the free trial of Apple One which has the 50GB. Otherwise if $2.99 isn’t a problem you could get the 200gb option, do your full backup making sure you have all of the options toggled on for what to include in the backup). Once all is done if you don’t want to keep iCloud active you can cancel it
