How do I connect to my iMessages on a new device

Every time I try to type in my apple ID and password for iMessages it says unable able to connect to I messages pls try again and every time I try it doesn’t work

iPad, iPadOS 16

If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support


If you continue to experience difficulties, you would be best advised to seek assistance directly from from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page.


Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:
