New WD Internal HDD Not Initializing Mac Pro

Installed HDD. Disk Utility pops up but only First Aid, Erase and Restore are lit. Ran First Aid with no results. Looked online and could not find any information that matched my issue.

Accidently deleted Macintosh HD on Disk Utility - now my mac won't start up Earlier today I was trying to reset my Macbook Pro (2016 model on MacOS Big Sur) to sell and I deleted Macintosh HD from the Disk Utility software thinking that it would reset my mac to factory settings. Now my Mac can't start up and shows a folder with a question mark in it. First Aid does not work for any of the internal options. "Preboot", "Recovery" and "VM" are unmounted every time I go back in to Disk Utility. First Aid for Internal > AppleAPFSMedia does not work and says I need to repair the startup volume by running First Aid from Recovery? Isn't that what I'm doing? When I try re-install MacOS it only shows "Macintosh HD - Data" & "Update" and the installation always fails when reaching the end on either option. Attached is a photo of my Internal disks on Disk Utility. I would appreciate any help, thank you in advance!

Error message: Unable to set startup disk I have an iMac 5K 2017, currently running macOS Big Sur 11.7.10. I purchased a SanDisk PRO-G40 SSD external disk with 2-TB and installed macOS Monterery 12.7.1 on it. Subsequent to the installation, Disk Utility is showing me two volumes on the PRO-G40: (a) an APFS System Volume "PRO-G40" and (b) an APFS Data Volume "PRO-G40 - Data". As I wanted to be able to boot from this disk, I went into System Preferences/Startup Disk and selected "PRO-G40" which showed macOS 12.7.1. So far so good, right? However, when I hit "Restart..." I get the following error message: Why is this happening?

mac stuck on folder blinking my mac just randomly started to randomly not turn on, i powered it on and it started flashing a folder with a question mark. it says the disk is fine, but when i try to reinstall macOS X maverick it says there’s no disk found. help me please. i use my computer for college!!

Be sure you choose "Show all Devices" from the little drop down menu. You want to erase the PHYSICAL device by its manufacturer-provided name.

In newer versions of MacOS the two steps Erase and Partition (aka Initialize) are combined into a slightly more complex ERASE command. when you erase, you choose the partition scheme (GIUD) and a Volume type (typically MacOS Extended (journaled)) and give the Volume a name and it does all in one operation. it just takes about a minute.
