Not only has Downtime for Safari been broken for 5 years, apple has now extended it to Firefox

device: iPhone 12 Pro.

when I started using screen time and downtime on iOS years ago, I was frustrated (like many other people on the internet) by how Safari had 0 customisation with the feature. I couldn’t whitelist or blacklist the app itself, or any specific websites. I had to manually approve every individual website to be ‘allowed’ every individual day I used my phone, which is an utterly ridiculous oversight for a company like apple.

for years I’ve used firefox after dark because it never had any browser restrictions with downtime and let me use the app like, you know, a normal developer would allow.

well guess what. It’s 2023, downtimes been an issue for 5 YEARS now, and guess what. Does apple fix it? No! They EXTEND the downtime bug TO OTHER BROWSERS including Firefox.

I don’t understand how this is possible.

apple, this is NOT a feature. This is a BUG. don’t spread its functionality across every app on my phone. FIX IT.

this is actually an experience ruining bug for me and several other people and the fact it hasn’t been fixed is absolutely baffling.

if there is one reason I would sell my iPhone and leave the ecosystem after 15 years, it’s this one. Apple, you’re literally making a smartphone unusable. Fix it.
