iPad freezes after about a minute using screen mirror

I just purchased a MacBook Air M2 and an iPad Pro M2. I travel a lot and one way I use my iPad is for extending my screen from my MacBook Air to the iPad - Not mirror, but extend.

This screen mirroring feature has become unusable recently. My MacBook Air is at 13.5 and my iPad Pro is at 16.6. After about a minute the iPad freezes and become unusable via the MacBook Air.

Is there a quick fix to this issue? I can return both the MacBook Air and the iPad Pro if that feature truly is gone and doesn't work. Just wanting some feedback from you all if you have heard of anything as of late.

Thanks.

Hello J|Spoon,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities, it's great to have you here.

There are quite a few tools built in to your MacBook Air and iPad Pro that allow you to utilize your iPad as a second display for your MacBook Air. Based on your post, it's hard to say how you may be setting that up and why things aren't working as expected but we want to share this resource which should help you get things working again: Use an iPad as a second display for a Mac - Apple Support. We would recommend that you work through the steps in that article to set this feature up successfully.

If you run into issues there, go ahead and reply back here and the community may be able to weigh in further.

We hope that this information gets everything working again.

Many thanks!
