5 Power Adapters with same Serialnumber

I've bought 5 20w Power Adapters but they all have the same serialnumber on the box. I've opened one, and the number on the adapter itself is different from the number on the box.

They look really good and I really think they are authentic. But they should have different serial numbers, isn't it?

The bottom line? If you purchased these directly from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller, then they should be originals. if not, then they could be fakes.

Three typically signs, that they are fakes:

  1. You got them at an extremely low price.
  2. The serial numbers do not appear as valid on the Apple support site.
  3. They all have the same serial number.

I would return them for a full refund. If you still need them, get them from Apple or an AAR.

I have tried at least 10 valid/original serial number of different 20W USB-C power adapters, they always come out invalid when I use the checkcoverage tool. That's why I came here.

I know that if I buy the products directly from Apple I know for sure they are valid. But I haven't done that, and I was wondering if there was a way to verify or if someone here might know a reason why the serial number are the same on all the boxes.

Thanks for your input though.

If they are fakes then somebody found a valid serial number on a package and then copied it and stuck it on a bunch of boxes. It is rare that a customer will compare serial numbers on multiple boxes.

If you are concerned about this then you should really be speaking with Apple.

Select your country (also look for "other" regions), then a product. If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.

I believe it's counterfeit and have figured out a way to tell. Rotate the image 90° counterclockwise so the text can be read and look at the model code "MHJE3ZM/A" and notice how the font is taller than the rest of the label title "20 W USB-C.." in genuine ones it appears that the title text height is consistent.

Another way is the CE and recycling icons are darker but because of lighting that is only certain in the left 2 boxes.

Here is a photo to compare. I believe the below box photo from another more expensive ebay listing to be genuine however I am not certain so have masked the serial number to prevent it being indexed by Google:

It's kind of hard for me to read because it is small and I have to read it at right angles. I guess those could be fakes. Somebody found a real serial number then just copied it multiple times.

Enter the serial number in this link --> Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support - Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support

Does it find them? If yes then at least the serial number is real, but fake copies can have real serial numbers that might well, of course, be reported as valid. If you take them to Apple they can tell the difference. The bottom line is the only real way to be sure something Apple is not fake is to only buy it from Apple or an Apple Authorized retailer. --> Find Locations

Thanks! I've already contacted Apple, they couldn't help me any further. They said to contact the seller.

The platform where I've bought them is an AAR, however they allow third-party sellers on there as well. And in the rush of buying them, I've overlooked I wasn't buying from the platform itself.

I will definitely be sending these back since I don't want to set my house on fire.
