synthesiser audio interface and iMac

I have a synthesiser. I have a yamaha UX16 audio interface which is old. I try to connect the synthesiser to my iMac (iso ventura 13.4.1) through yamaha UX16 audio interface. But my iMac, using GarageBand, does not detect my synthesiser nor the interface.


Any suggestions to solve the problem? Thanks.

  1. Choose an Audio Interface: An audio interface is a device that connects to your computer and allows you to record and play back audio. Make sure you have a compatible audio interface that suits your needs and has the necessary inputs/outputs for your synthesizer and other equipment.
  2. Connect Synthesizer to Audio Interface: Connect your synthesizer to the audio interface using appropriate cables. Depending on the outputs of your synthesizer and the inputs of your audio interface, you may need standard audio cables (such as 1/4-inch or XLR) or adapters.
  3. Connect Audio Interface to iMac: Connect the audio interface to your iMac using a USB, Thunderbolt, or other compatible cable. This will allow your iMac to communicate with the audio interface and process the audio signals.
  4. Select Audio Interface in System Preferences:
  5. a. Go to "System Preferences" on your iMac.
  6. b. Click on "Sound" or "Audio MIDI Setup" (exact name may vary depending on your macOS version).
  7. c. In the "Output" or "Sound Output" tab, select your audio interface as the output device.
  8. Select Audio Interface in Music Software: If you're using music production software (such as Logic Pro, Ableton Live, GarageBand, etc.), go into the software's settings/preferences and select your audio interface as the audio input and output device.
  9. Test and Adjust Levels: Once everything is set up, test the connection by playing your synthesizer. You might need to adjust volume levels on both the synthesizer and the audio interface to achieve the desired sound.
