Receiving my own messages

am getting my own text messages sent back to me on a group which includes myself, my husband and my daughter who does not share Apple ID. Example, if my daughter sends a message to me and my husband and I respond I get back twice on my phone. Every time I send a message I receive the same message from myself back and this only happens when I respond to my daughter and my husband is on the message. If there is a group of 21 this does not happen. This just started. What is going on? My outgoing will be a color of green even though we have iMessage enabled on all phones, and I will get what looks like a response in grey from myself on the other side of the screen that is my message I sent out.

Hey there Lauwal,

We understand you're receiving your own response back to you when you reply to a group message. We'd be happy to help you troubleshoot this.

From experience, this happens when you have added yourself to the group message or another member has added you. For example, they may have added both your phone number and Apple ID to the conversation, therefore, you would receive a reply to both of those. The solution to this would be to remove the Apple ID from the conversation using the steps here:

Add and remove people in group text messages on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

You also mention that you see a green message bubble even though you're all using iMessage. You will want to make sure that your phone number is registered to iMessage by going to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Make sure that your phone number does not appear in grey.

Let us know the results.

Kind regards.
