G Meet in Apple calendar

I have a problem with Adding video calls via Google meet to an event created with calendar. 📅

Does anybody knows how I can do? 🙏

For anyone from the Apple product team who is reading this. The current flow requires several steps:

  1. Consult schedule in iCal
  2. Switch to a browser
  3. Open meet.google.com
  4. Create a link
  5. Copy the link
  6. Switch to iCal
  7. Paste the link in iCal
  8. Switch back to browser
  9. Copy the additional information from Google Meet (dial in numbers, etc)
  10. Switch back to iCal
  11. Paste the link into the notes section in iCal

It would be really nice if iCal had an integration with Google Calendar so that this could be done in a single click, just like what is possible with Facetime. Since Facetime doesn't work with non-Apple devices, people rarely use it to schedule meetings.

I think it’s pretty unlikely Apple Support Community discussions would come across the desks of any product team. Apple has a Product Feedback page to submit feedback on Apple’s products and services. Make sure to submit your feedback there so it has the best chance of reaching the target audience. Below are the specific forms for Calendar feedback from that page.

Calendar (iOS and iPadOS App)

Calendar (macOS App)

iCloud (the form has a question to specify a specific iCloud application)

Hello,

To do this you would need to get the meeting link for your scheduled Google Meet then add it to your Calendar event in the URL field.

Add notes, a URL, or files to events in Calendar on Mac - Apple Support

Create and edit events in Calendar on iPhone - Apple Support

"Add an event

  1. In Day view, tap  at the top of the screen.
  2. Enter the title of the event.
  3. Tap Location or Video Call, then enter a physical location or tap FaceTime to enter a video link for a remote event.
  4. You can also copy a FaceTime link you created or received and paste it in the Location field. See Create a link to a FaceTime call on iPhone.
  5. Enter the start and end times for the event, the travel time, invitees, attachments, and so on. (Swipe up, if necessary, to enter all the meeting information.)
  6. Tap Add."

On an iPhone the URL field is at the bottom above Notes.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

After rereading your post I want to provide some information. It seems Apple has already addressed some of the improvements you are looking for.

I don’t know what all Google features would show after adding your Google account to your Apple device but if you have already added it might be worth a try.
