I have an extensive iTunes collection on my mac - it's all local (not cloud music), with lots of playlists, metadata, ratings, etc. I copied it to a new Mac, which has Music application, not iTunes. When I open it, all I see is a flat list of tracks, none of my playlists are there and I don't see the ratings carry over. What am I doing wrong - what's the way to keep all my iTunes metadata when migrating up to a new OS (Ventura)?

Movies & TV shows requiring to be downloaded again.
Videos that were purchased are gone, requires repurchasing.

Yes, migrating the library properly should bring over ratings and playlists. It is important that you use the option-start-Music method to access and convert your old iTunes Library.itl file rather than importing the contents of the media folder, which adds the content, but not those other details.

Can I confirm the expected behavior, when all goes well. What should happen, when I move my iTunes music library content to a new Mac with Music, is that the Music app should show all the playlists I used to have, and the tracks should have kept their star ratings, right?

Bingo! that did it. I was following instructions that just had me copy over the folder and point Music to it. That did not work, but the option-start-Import method finally did the trick.
