On my 14" MBP (M1 Pro, Ventura), in Settings/Displays there is a little image of the computer with picture on the screen. The picture is not generic, it's one that I have, but I would like to change it. How does one do that? Where is this image stored? The copy I have is on another device, and I'm not sure how this computer got ahold of it.

Not quite, but your answer solved the problem. Thank you! Normally, the wallpaper rotates through pictures in a dedicated folder - that is, set aside for wallpapers. The offending picture had never been in that folder. So I tried changing the wallpaper to a single picture temporarily, and now the "built-in display" icon in Settings shows a picture of the moon, even after going back to rotating through my wallpapers folder.
Most of the times, this is your wallpaper that is displayed there. Try and change your wallpaper to see what will happen
