Mac Mail Attachments Received Do Not Show Up in Message

Since updating to Venture 13.3.1 (a), attachments to emails that I receive no longer show up either embedded in the message to me OR as an icon. For example, PDF attachments to not show up with the PDF icon.

If I know there's an attachment, I have to hunt around with my cursor to find it.

Here's a screenshot that shows you what I mean. I know there's an attachment, since I sent the message to myself from my scanner. The attached document is a PDF file. You can clearly see from the menu bar that there is one attachment.

But there is NO paperclip icon that shows up in the inbox menu, and there is NO PDF icon for the attachment, so I have to guess where to click to open the attachment.

This happens 80 of the time with attachments I receive!!

Please can someone tell me what's going on? THANKS.

How are you making the attachment?

Drag and dropping the file as well as using the paper clip icon works every time for us to attach a file.

I just drug and dropped your example onto my desktop. It showed up as an image file ... a .png. When I drag and drop an image, it goes into the body of the message as a viewable image, not a file.

What happens when you attach a non image file such as a .doc or .pdf?

Thanks for your reply and Qs. Sometimes attachments received from others do not show up either as icons or embedded. Other times they do.

It's not just something that happens when I send messages from my scanner to me.

I am going to have to continue to run some tests to isolate the circumstances when this issue arises.

Thanks.

Following up on my reply to your message yesterday, I can confirm that this problem can also occur with Word and Excel documents that are attachments emails that I receive through Apple Mail on my MacBook Pro (which is running the most recent version of the iOS (Venture 13.3.1 (a)).

It does not show up either embedded or as an icon. There is nothing visual in the message. I just know it's there because I was expecting it, and the attachment is mentioned in the body of the email.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.
