“Not your AirPod pros”

My AirPods are showing a message “not your AirPod pros”. When I open the case to check battery life quickly. They are connected though, and always connect with no problems.

if I put AirPods in and go to settings, I can see the AirPod pro menu and everything works as it should.

if I put AirPods back in case to charge and open the case and bring it closer, the pop up comes up “not your AirPod pros”, when they clearly are.

I have tried resetting them. Haven’t tried anything else.

I also use them with my MacBook with no problems.

anyone know another way to fix the message so it will show battery life as it should do?

Hey Xavier massey,

Thanks for getting back to us, it’s appreciated!

Since you’ve already tried resetting your AirPods Pro, let’s make sure the firmware is up to date. Here’s how: About firmware updates for AirPods - Apple Support

Compare the firmware number to the one that matches your AirPods. If they need updating, follow the provided steps. Once the process has finished, see if you’re still seeing that message.

If you are, or the firmware was already up to date, you’ll need to reach out to Apple Support directly to look into this issue further with you. You can use this link to reach them: Get Support

All the best.

Hi there Xavier massey,

We'd like to learn more to see how we can help with your AirPods Pro. To start, do you see them in your list of devices in the Find My app?

Which device are you using with your AirPods Pro and which software version is that device running? Does this message appear every time you connect them?

Send over these details, and we'll take a closer look from there.

Thanks!

Hello.

my AirPods appear in find my app.

they also function normally when I take them out of the case to use them.

I use my AirPods with both my iPhone 12 Pro and a MacBook Pro with M1 Pro.

the message appears every time I open the case and bring the case closer to my iPhone to check battery life.

they also sometimes come up connect temporarily option, though this all goes away when I put the AirPods in my ears and it connects like normal.
