Vertical artifacts are typically a problem with the display itself.
You can try plugging in an external monitor and compare your results..
External comes from the GPU directly and bypasses the internal Display—this would be telling test by comparision
In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment
