Wallet and Apple Pay not showing in System Settings. . .

On a new Mac, Wallet and Apple Pay were not appearing in System Settings. Many threads on this topic gave no help. For some reason, some help topics directed me to the Touch ID and Password section. I had a much that Touch ID on my keyboard was interfering with Wallet, and sure enough, once I disabled "use Touch ID" for Apple Pay and "use Touch ID" for iTunes Store etc. and restarted, Wallet and Apple Pay were then available in my System Settings. Once I re-added my cards, I then turned back on the two related Touch ID settings, and Wallet and Apple Pay are still available. Some rigamarole, but at least it's handled.

So the steps to fix "Wallet & Apple Pay" being missing from "System Settings" on a Mac that does support Apple Pay are:

  1. Open "System Settings"
  2. Select "Touch ID & Password"
  3. Disable "Use Touch ID for Apple Pay" (I also disabled it for iTunes, not sure if that's relevant)
  4. Quick "System Settings"
  5. Re-open "System Settings" and see "Wallet & Apple Pay" appear
  6. Re-enable "Use Touch ID for Apple Pay"


I then saw a message about Apple Pay being disabled and explaining that the security settings of my Mac were modified. I've not investigated that yet but at least I now have an error to work from.
