I've noticed over the past few months that after I close the lid of my MacBook (with the tab still open on Google Chrome), the sound keeps playing as if my MacBook hasn't gone to sleep.

This issue only seems to happen with Netflix - usually when it's on the home screen but sometimes happens when playing something on full screen too. It doesn't seem to happen with any other streaming platforms (e.g. Prime Video, Disney+, Spotify etc.), so I'm not sure if this is an issue with Netflix or my MacBook?

Same with my 2018/2020 MacBook Air running Ventura. It is annoying when I click another YouTube short and the previous keeps playing over it, but I can’t get back to it, EVEN THOUGH THE PREVIOUS WAS CLOSED AND NEW WINDOW PLAYING NEXT CLIP. Also not a $1,000 experience?.

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/Anti-Virus/VPN

all known to cause issues on the macOS

o trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most* extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.
