Sound keeps playing after I close the lid

I have a MacBook Pro (mid-2014) running on Big Sur (v11.6.5).

I've noticed over the past few months that after I close the lid of my MacBook (with the tab still open on Google Chrome), the sound keeps playing as if my MacBook hasn't gone to sleep. This has only started happening in the last few months. I haven't manually changed any settings recently and can't remember when I last updated the OS. This issue only seems to happen with Netflix - usually when it's on the home screen but sometimes happens when playing something on full screen too. It doesn't seem to happen with any other streaming platforms (e.g. Prime Video, Disney+, Spotify etc.), so I'm not sure if this is an issue with Netflix or my MacBook?

Same with my 2018/2020 MacBook Air running Ventura. It is annoying when I click another YouTube short and the previous keeps playing over it, but I can’t get back to it, EVEN THOUGH THE PREVIOUS WAS CLOSED AND NEW WINDOW PLAYING NEXT CLIP. Also not a $1,000 experience?.

I dont have Netflix? This is happening to me with Streaming Live TV, Youtube and especially Shorts. I can even close the Tab and it will still play over the Video on a New Tab? I have only noticed it in the last few months. It happens on Bootcamp Partition as well as Apple Partition. Maybe it is Google again? Youtube is the worst, you can have closed Tabs play to the end and if you ticked continuos play, it just keeps going in the background. OK so it hapens on Ventura on dedicated TV Laptop as well as Windows on my MacBook Pro everyday Laptop. I have another MacBook Pro I hook up to TV from time to time (has a good battery so I use it mobile as well). Well Dial a brain? Simple solutions for simple .......

Perhaps you should read your original post…
