Does iMessage from a child's iPad (iCloud account) work internationally?

iMessage Internationally To Android Hi everyone, so I recently made a friend in the United States and wanted to text with them through iMessage but they have an android phone while I have an iPhone. i know that if you’re using I message with others who have an iPhone as well internationally over internet you will not receive charges but I was wondering if the same thing apples for Android. Like if I am on wifi messaging to a friend who has an Android phone. Will it be free as well or will it get charged?

iMessage to a person in a different country Hi, would you let me know how to use iMessage with someone in a different country? Do I need to use a country code to use iMessage and drop "0" just like we make a phone call? (iMessage to Japanese iPhone). Just like Facetime, it is free? I experienced in the past that iMessage doesn't go through even though I was able to use Facetime....is it something to do with a country code?

iMessage is Apple’s proprietary messaging system. iMessage is linked to the User’s AppleID; unless restricted by applied Parental or ScreenTime controls, iMessage can be used at all times in all countries.
