If you request a credit limit increase and it is approved, do you receive the increase immediately?

I requested one earlier, for the first time in a year, but have no response yet. The automated system just said I'd receive a letter letting me know the decision, within a week. I'm thinking this means the increase was not approved...? I imagine such would be automated and that you'd find out one way or another immediately. So strange. I've never had a SINGLE late payment on my credit report, and have always made multiple payments every month on my Apple Card, but never get near paying it off. But still, I'd think they'd increase it for perfect behavior otherwise. My 17 year payment history proves I'm not risky and I do not have a terrible credit score. From my research, it seems Apple Card prefers consumers who pay their balance in full each month. Which is strange...they make more money off of people like me who they get to charge interest to every month. LOL!

No, denial is almost always instant too. Your request is in review. In a situation like yours, a review is in your favor. Just be patient and wait it out.

In regard to your evaluation of risk, let’s just say you and a lender will almost always have different perspective on what is risk and what isn’t.

Yes, it’s instant if approved. Requesting a CLI does not affect your credit. It’s a soft pull.

It’s actually very easy to request a Credit Limit Increase (CLI) by just starting a chat with an Apple Card specialist. The link is below for the chat and to a support article that has additional information.

Thank you Jeff. That is what I figured, but how do you know this exactly for sure? I requested it by calling and requesting through the phone bot (automation) system. I just find it strange that they/it does not just tell you right then and there what the decision was, instead of making you wait a week for a letter. I did not receive an email either. I searched for a long time to find an answer to this question before posting here, so it is simply bizarre that Apple Card/Goldman Sachs isn't respectful enough to tell us right away or list anywhere how the approval/denial process works. As for how to request the increase, that is made completely obvious, and there are directions for that ALL OVER the internet.
