Find your show, but not through Up Next (any other listing will work, including Search). That will bring you to that show’s Details page. Then scroll down a bit to see a row of episodes. Scroll horizontally to find your wanted episode. Click the episode image to start watching that episode.

How do i continue to a second episode?

For what? For an Apple TV+ TV show episode? For an Apple TV Store purchase? For a show from a third party app or channel? Can you specify the title? On what device does this happen?

it does not automatically continue forward.

It should show the next episode at the end of the current episode, if a next unwatched episode is available yet (that may not have happened yet for new shows with a weekly release schedule).

how do i select different episodes?

Users may select the show itself, rather than an episode, e.g. by finding it outside of Up Next. On this show’s Details page, you will find a complete list of available episodes, below the big preview video or image. Select the poster frame for an episode to start that episode. You should find checkmark overlays for watched episodes, and a progress line overlay for partially watched episodes.

why does search just spin?

I don’t know. It is quite responsive for me, whether I search something popular, or something obscure, or something non-existent. Does this happen while connected to your home network?
