Voicemail disappears

I had a voicemail message that I wanted to listen to again because the transcription was missing a lot of words. The person leaving the message is often hard to understand when I am talking to them so that wasn't surprising. When I came back later the phone showed the voice mail was still there but when I pressed the message it called the number instead of showing the message. When I long-pressed the only options I had were to message, call or email. I needed to know why they were calling before I returned the call. Any suggestions on how to listen to/view a message a second time?

Please contact your Carrier as VoiceMail is a carrier specific feature --> Check your voicemail on iPhone - Apple Support

VoiceMail (Visual or Normal) is a Carrier Specific feature. Contact your Carrier (Cellular Service Provider), the agency that issued the SIM / eSIM to you.
