child never received request for new family share

Trying to move my son and myself to my wife's family share plan. My son is not receiving the request, and I'm not receiving an alert to remove him.

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 16

So firstly, we want to check if you are both apart of an existing plan? It sounds like you may have a plan with your son. If so, is his a child account or a teen/adult account? That will define the steps we need to follow. For example, if his is a child account, then you'd follow the steps you found at Move a child to another group using Family Sharing - Apple Support. Whereas a teen or adult account would leave your group on their own first, you disband the group, and then you can both join her plan via invites.
