Is there a way to extract email addresses from Apple Mail? I sadly did not add all my email contacts to the contact app and would like to extract the email addresses from my emails without having to add them one by one to contacts. Is this possible to do?
Apparently it is how they function because most of my emails are not automatically added as contacts. Out of the thousands of emails I have, most of them do not have contacts automatically added.
As I understand it, with Apple's Mail app, it uses the email contact list which is stored in the Contacts app. However, when using Mail you may add a contact which is then stored in Contacts. Have you checked Contacts to see what is stored there?
As I said, when you add a new email address to an email message in Mail, it WILL automatically be added yo Contacts. That is where email addresses are stored. So, how did you get email addresses which are listed in Mail but not also listed in Contacts. That is not how these two apps function.
You can add email addresses to contacts one at a time in Mail by selecting it in the headers, or you can add them from Previous Recipients (Window menu).
The only way to mass extract the addresses and add to Contacts would be through some third-party app or AppleScript. I don't have any recommendations.
Yes. I don't have all my contacts in the app. Thus, the need to extract them from emails that are housed in mailbox folders and in my inbox.
If you hover the pointer over the sender, you can click the down pointer and copy the email address and add to contacts for some senders. No idea why not for all senders..
