I need help removing an old credit card from my Apple wallet.

I need to delete an old credit card from my Apple Wallet and I get the following error: "Cannot Delete Card: The card might have a balance or the issuer is offline"

I have deactivated this credit card and I'm unable to remove it from my wallet and/or add any new cards.

You must first add a new card, make it the primary card, then remove the old card→If you need to change or update your Apple ID payment method - Apple Support
