How can I get my watch face to show TOTAL calories and NOT active calories?? Thanks

If you mean the Apple built-in apps then I believe not. They may be getting ready for OS10 but, although I am testing that, I can't comment.
Third party apps may no longer be working properly after any update if the developers don't update them to suit, or if you got signed out.

Hey there.. just thought I’d let you know, for some crazy reason, my total calories had appeared back on my watch face. I did power my watch off for 2 mins and turned it back on .. and then total calories appeared. Strange
Total calories (active detected, plus an estimate for just being alive and breathing) can be viewed on iPhone Fitness summary
Or it can be viewed during a workout along with active calories. Select or modify the workout view to show it.
You will not see it on a face complication or in watch Activity screen.
Until the last update on my watch, I’ve had total calories showing on my watch face. I updated yesterday and now it’s only active calories.. very annoying. So there’s no way to show active calories ? Thanks for replying

In the summary page tap on the rings
On a parallel thought, I am also intrigued how you managed to show total cal on the face.
Go to iPhone, Watch app, My Watch tab, and see what is installed. Screenshot if you know how

Pretty sure that is on iOS16 if you have all your health data in iPhone, Watch app, My Watch tab, Health, Health Details.
