iPhone 13 mini close-up capability

My iPhone 13 Mini camera, unlike the Pro version, does not have a macro facility - I get that. Looking at this forum there were lots of complaints about the poor quality of the close-up capabilities of the 13 Mini and the inability to focus closer than 9 inches. I find that if I select the 0.5 lens and then zoom in to the maximum 5x I get a very decent sharp close-up from 9 inches - am I missing something?
