My MacBook is on Catalina OS10.15.7 and it does not have Recovery. How do I turn off the firmware to prepare it for the trade-in?

I am trading in my MacBook of the purchase of a new MacBook. The old computer is on OS 10.15.7 and does not have Recovery that the preparation instructions leads me to (support.apple.com/HT204455).

Does this need to be done? Suggestions on work arounds? I have not found a download for Recovery app.
