Connect both air pods and tv speakers at same time

Would be nice to be able to use headphones or AirPods the same time as using regular speakers. Husband has a hard time understanding some of the vocals and with CC on he’s busy reading what’s being said. I would like to hear thru the speakers but both can’t be used at the same time. Please try to fix some can both be happy! Thank you!
