Hey there smosley1021,
Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.
To get started, do you notice if the issue occurs when receiving a specific notification, or does this occur with all notifications and calls? If you connect another device to your Bluetooth speaker that is able to receive notifications, does the same issue persist on that device was well?
Also, since noticing the issue have you tried restarting your iPhone to see if that's able to help with the issue, even if it's just temporary? If not, and while restarting may seem like a simple step, it can often help with resolving some unexpected issues like this.
Check out the steps below from the following link for help with restarting: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later
1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.
How to restart your iPhone 6, 7, 8, or SE (2nd or 3rd generation)
1. Press and hold the side button until the power-off slider appears.
2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
If the issue persists after restarting, you may also have the option to reset your Bluetooth speaker. If so, try disconnecting and resetting your Bluetooth speaker, connect it with your iPhone once again, and test the issue. This can help refresh the connection between your devices and may help with resolving the issue.
Keep us updated on the results, and we'll continue from there.
Take care!
