Safari for current iOS (16.5.1) will not bypass an invalid security certificate in a site I know to be safe (but behind in their updates). Support doesn't know how to bypass, and button in iOS settings that "should be there" isn't....

When you go to a site with an invalid certificate you should see a screen like this:
If you tap on Show Details you should see this:
You should then be able to tap on Visit this website.
If that fails to work edit the URL and change the https: to http: to access the unencrypted version of the site.
