Apple TV not recognizing active subscription on Samsung TV

I can’t seem to get my Apple TV subscription to be recognized on my Samsung TV. It runs OK on my iPads and PC but when I try to watch on my Samsung TV it acts like I don’t have a subscription and just sets me up to see first episodes like it would for a customer with no account. I have tried using the barcode on screen to sync it to my account and it acts like it sees it and refreshes my TV but it just goes back to just giving me the option to watch only the first episodes of a series. Is there another way to get it to sign on to my account? The account is in my wife’s name (via apple Apps, is that the problem? Should I cancel it in Apps and open a new account on the Samsung? I just don’t want to lose all my favorites (up next selections)

Hey TonyCicarella,

We'd recommend reviewing this article as it explains steps to take to set up Apple TV+ on smart TV's: Get the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ app on your smart TV or streaming device - Apple Support

"Need help?

  • For more information about the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ app on your smart TV or streaming device, see the Apple TV app user guide.
  • If you have issues installing the Apple TV app or Apple TV+ app or connecting to the internet on your smart TV or streaming device, contact the manufacturer.
  1. Availability of the Apple TV app and Apple TV+ app might vary by country and region. Learn what’s available in your country or region. The Apple TV app and Apple TV+ app features and supported devices also might vary by country and region.
  2. On Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, and Sony TV devices, you can't purchase content from the Apple TV app. You can buy, rent, or subscribe on another supported device and then watch in the Apple TV app on your Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, or Sony TV device."

If that doesn't help, we'd recommend checking to see if you can update or delete and reinstall the app on your TV to see if that helps. You may also want to reach out to Samsung to see if they have additional guidance.

Thanks!
