System settings only showing one external monitor

Hi all,

I have a 2023 Macbook Pro 14" M2 and have it connected to a docking station over USB-C. From the docking station, there are 2 external monitors from the same type connected, both Philips. One via DP and the other via HDMI.

Now, in the system settings I see only one external monitor connected.

Both monitors are showing my extended screen but they are synced. But I would like to extend to both screens rather then syncing them. This makes absolutely no sense.

I also tried to detect the monitors over the system settings but it only shows one of them.

It works perfectly fine on my Windows Laptop.

Does someone know how to fix that?

Macs don’t support hanging multiple monitors off one port unless the device attached directly to the Mac is a Thunderbolt one.

Is your dock a Thunderbolt one, or just a plain USB-C one?

(If it is a USB-C one that uses a workaround like DisplayLink to drive some or all of the attached displays, you might need to install third-party software on your Mac to get the extra video outputs to work. A better solution would be a Thunderbolt dock that could take advantage of your MBP’s built-in support for dual displays.)
