First song of albums on Music not playing

I just signed up for a Music trial after 6 years exclusively using a different music service to check out Apple's quality of hi-res, lossless audio.

When I start albums on the desktop app (desktop app, MacBook Pro 2019, MacOS Ventura 13.4), the first song isn't playing. I click play on song 1 and literally nothing happens. I click play on song 2 and the top menu populates with the album cover, song, tracking bar, etc.

I've spot checked a handful of albums and get the same issue. It doesn't happen from iOS, only desktop. Songs 2 through the end all play fine, it's just the first one. These are not albums in my library, and I don't have any songs downloaded to my MacBook.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi AppleTX1,

A good place to start with Apple Music concerns on a Mac would be If you have problems playing music on Mac. You may also check to see if the behavior continues in safe mode per How to use safe mode on your Mac to rule out possible conflicts or settings that are causing the issue.

If those don't help (including the follow-up steps in the safe mode article dependent on the test results), contact Apple Support to investigate this further.
