Apple will recycle your card for free. There is no information on the card if it has been locked or cancelled.

Recycle your Apple Card

1. Go to Apple Trade In - Apple.
2. Under Select your device to get a trade-in estimate, choose Other devices.
3. Select Apple Card, then choose Recycle and provide the information on your screen.

A prepaid shipping label is sent to your mailing address. It's also sent to the email address you provided, along with instructions.

By using something designed to cut through such material. Like a tin snips. A good pair of kitchen shears might also work.

You can cancel the card with the Wallet app - Lock or unlock Apple Card - Apple Support. This should only lock the titanium Apple Card. There is no information (besides your full name) on the Apple Card and therefore you shouldn't need to cut it up. You can also Recycle your Apple Card by bringing it to any Apple Store.
