Resetting the passcode in the settings app will not affect anything. However, if you mean that you need to reset the passcode, by erasing the phone because you can’t remember the old passcode, that will totally erase all data on the phone and that includes your personal information.

If you have to erase the phone, but you have a backup, you can restore the backup after you erase the device to access the phone again.

If you reset the iPhone passcode, all of the data on your phone will be erased. Once the phone is set up again.....and you have a current backup of the phone......you can use the backup to restore the phone, so it will look like it did before you forgot the passcode.
