Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities Supermarette,
The ability to play, or save edits to movies may depend on the software that you're using.
If using QuickTime, the following information may be helpful:
You can vary the playback speed of a video using the forward
or rewind button
. To change the playback speed while playing the video, click the forward or rewind button until your video plays at the desired speed. Playback speeds include 2x, 5x, 10x, 30x, and 60x.
You can vary the playback speed in small increments (from 1.1x to 2x) by Option-clicking the forward
or rewind button
while the video is playing.
You can also choose a playback speed before you play the video. Click the Share and Playback Speed button
, choose Playback Speed, then choose the speed you want.
If you want the file you’re playing to appear in front of all other windows on your screen, choose View > Float on Top so a checkmark appears next to it. Choose it again to turn it off.
Open and play a file in QuickTime Player on Mac
With iMovie, you have a lot more editing flexibility. You can learn how to change the clip speed in iMovie, here: Change clip speed in iMovie on Mac
If you need further assistance, let us know which app you're using.
We hope this helps!
