Google Maps not displaying on Car Play Info Screen in the car

So, I have google maps running on my phone with a route in progress. I connect to Apple Car Play in the car. The system comes up and shows a default map, with no route, but the speakers are telling me directions. It just doesn't show on the screen at all.

If I unplug the phone and plug it back in it doesn't help. Turning on and off the car doesn't help.

I can help you with that. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Force close Google Maps on your iPhone. To do this, double-click the Home button and swipe up on the Google Maps app.
Restart your iPhone. To do this, hold down the power button and the home button until you see the Apple logo.
Forget your car in CarPlay settings. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.
Update Google Maps and iOS. Make sure that you have the latest versions of Google Maps and iOS installed on your iPhone.
Check your car's firmware. Make sure that your car's firmware is up to date. You can check this in your car's owner's manual.
