How can I allow audible phone call notification (phone rings) only from certain people silencing all other notifications?

Need to make sure I get a calls only from certain family members at night. I don’t want any other notifications or texts.

How can I set up a focus mode that achieves this?

Focus - How can I allow all texts but only certain callers? iOS 16.3 I am trying to set up a Personal Focus that will allow all app notifications including ALL text notifications, but will only allow calls from certain callers. Yes, I'm basically just screening calls when this Focus is on. The problem I'm running into is that text notifications are only happening for people listed in the People/Allow Notifications From list. I can't find a way to allow text notifications from everyone while restricting the list of allowed callers. Specifically allowing Messages in Apps/Allow Notifications From list does not override this. It seems no one at Apple thought that at times I might want to receive texts from everyone, but calls from only certain people. Am I missing something? Is there another way I can limit who's calling but still allow all texts and other notifications?

Unable to use Do Not Disturb after iOS 16 update I have an iphone 12 and last night my phone updated to IOS 16. That completely changed the way I am able to use Do Not Disturb. I always put my phone on DND when I go to bed. I want to have settings that allow several family members in different time zones to call me (in an emergency) and have that call ring on my phone, but NOT to hear texts coming through if they message me. Now, I go Settings-Focus-Do Not Disturb. Under DND there is a section to "allow notifications" and I have added those family members to that section under "People". Tapping on People, the "allow notifications from" is checked. Under that there is another category "Allow Calls from" and I have selected "Allowed people only". It looks like texts and calls are bundled together under "notifications" and it's not possible to set it up for calls and not texts. I think the ios gives the option to receive notifications from a contact, but it doesn't allow you to decide which TYPE of notifications to get. "Emergency Bypass" is a comparable workaround, BUT it also lets individual contacts bypass DND and have sounds, alerts, and vibrations from that specific contact get through even if the phone is on DND. Aggravating.

Go to Settings > Focus.
Tap Do Not Disturb.
You can select allowed contacts, even app, here.
