Tesla Apple Music integration issue

Almost every time I get in my car, I have to sign out and back in to Apple Music to play music. I can browse around my personalized music preferences/suggestions, but it will not play music unless I sign out and back in. Tesla software version 2023.12.9.

Hello abking287,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. We're happy to look into this with you.

To clarify, are you using CarPlay to access your Apple Music subscription in your vehicle? Although you provided the audio system firmware version, have you confirmed with the manufacturer that this is the most current release?

If using CarPlay, what's the iOS version installed on your connected iPhone? This is in Settings > General > About. The current iOS is 16.5. If any updates are available, be sure to back up your iPhone before installing.

Hello abking287,

Thanks for clarifying.

Since this is inside the Apple Music app on Tesla, it's likely the fact the App does not remember the sign-in. Not sure if this is from two-factor, or the time the car was shutdown.

Check with Tesla to see if they had issues like this reported, as they may have a solution or a firmware update for the stereo to correct this. Check your user manual to check for how to update the stereo.

There have been others with this issue too, see if the options help here: Tesla Support Threads

If Tesla doesn't have anything to help, and those options above do not help, please contact Apple Support to investigate this with you further: Get Support

Thanks.

I'm having the same issue. I was logged off the Apple Music app in my Tesla. It asked me to scan a barcode with my iPhone (15). When I did, the iPhone tells me that my request timed out. I have the latest updates from Tesla on the car and Apple on the iphone. I've rebooted the car and the iphone several times too and have gotten the same result. I have an Apple One subscription and it used to work just fine in the Tesla.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

Sometimes I hop in my car search an artist find the album and it shows and plays entire album. Sometimes it shows album but plays a random song. Very annoying because now I am driving. What’s going on? I pay for and expect premium service. This flaw needs to be corrected. I don’t have time to reset and figure out what the problem is every time I want to drive my beautiful car. Started my library long ago with iTunes and Apple Music is the best.

Without seeing any pictures of what exactly is going on, I’m guessing you’re clicking on the wrong item in the search results. When you search an artist, many results will appear, often times with the same album art. Some of the results will be “stations”—a mix of songs related to the artist you searched for—some will be albums from that artist. Some will be songs from the artist. The search results are normally grouped by what category or type they are. Just make sure you’re clicking on what you want. It’s happened to me before too.

Hey, Missy. No, I’m not using CarPlay. Tesla does not support CarPlay. Teslas have Apple Music integrated into the car’s software. Yes, 2023.12.9 is currently the latest software version for my Model 3. It’s not the audio system firmware version.

Also, I have an Apple One Family subscription, so number of users shouldn’t be an issue.

I think this is an Apple issue, because my friend uses Spotify in his Tesla and doesn’t have this issue.

This is what I done so far and it looks like it work, I had to logged off , then reset the car, I removed my phone key off, removed my car from Bluetooth and used my card to drive for 24 hours, then added my phone back and it’s been 1 week and all is back to normal, lots of times it’s that your phone wants to take over the music and overtakes Apple on the screen, I did notice that it work fine on bluetooth, but I didn’t wanted to used my phone to send sound to the car when I have that feature in the screen , try those steps hope it works for you.
