IPad Pro third generation problems with ios 16.5

I get messages that an accessory isn’t compatible. The only accessories I have are the keyboard I bought from Apple, and the pencil. The keyboard does not always respond and I am getting blue boxes around things that seems to lock up everything. I can’t figure what is going on but it all started when ios 16.5 was installed. What is going on?

See >>> If you see an ‘Accessory may not be supported’ alert - Apple Support

If you are using a Smart (folio) keyboard, the alert is typical of a faulty folio keyboard. The electrical connections that pass though the flexible fabric hinges typically fracture - this usually resulting in errors and/or the on-screen notification that you see.

The Smart folio keyboard itself is not repairable. The only remedy is replacement of the keyboard. If you are within the one-year limited warranty, you’ll need to contact Apple Support or your retailer.

You will find the Get Support link at top-right of this page.

Alternatively, you can initiate a support case using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your device, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

A further alternative is to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store, where the technicians will be delighted to assist. When visiting the Genius Bar, a reservation is recommended:

After ANY iOS/iPadOS upgrade/update, you should ALWAYS perform a simple hard reset/forced restart of your Apple mobile device.

For iPad models with a Home button, do a simple hard reset/forced restart of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake/power button simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons.

OR

For much newer design iPad models, without a Home button, try the new simple hard reset/forced restart procedure for the new 2018-2022 iPad Pros, 2020/21 iPad Air 4 and 5, the 2021 iPad Mini 6 and the new 2022, 10th gen base models,

1. Press and release the volume button closest to the top Power button

2. Then immediately press and release the volume button farthest from the top Power button.

3. Then, press and hold the top single sleep/wake/power button You will see the Slide to Power off button, but keep on holding down the power button until you see the Apple logo, then let it go.

Once you have performed all the steps, wait for a few seconds and your 2018-2022 iPad will boot up completely to the iPad’s Lock screen.

Best of Luck to You!

Thanks, this makes sense. I have been wondering if there might be something wrong with the keyboard as it really looks horrible. The black covering is peeling off everywhere and there are wrinkles in the covering of the keys. Funny thing is I bought the Apple Keyboard because a knockoff that I used with a previous iPad did the same thing. Anyway buying the Apple product was even worse because it started peeling almost immediately. Ah well, live and learn.
